GET TO KNOW YOUR BOARD MEMBER Andrew Askew What is your current position? I work as an associate attorney at the Pearce Durick Law Firm, where I focus on civil and commercial litigation, real estate law, and general business representations. I also maintain a legislative lobbying and government relations practice. What is your hometown, college attended and law school attended? I am from Devils Lake and I attended St. Cloud State University and University of North Dakota for my undergraduate studies. I attended law school at the University of North Dakota. SBAND Board Member What professional work did you do before law school? Prior to law school, I was a full-time student, working on degrees in business management and English. What led you to a career in law? As a child, I always wanted to be an attorney like my dad. How long have you been on the SBAND Board? I have been on the SBAND Board since December 2016. What other involvement have you had with SBAND prior to being on the Board? Prior to serving on the Board, I was selected to be on the Joint Law School/SBAND Committee. What is the last book you read (good or bad)? As part of a book club, I’m currently reading or listening to The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean. Thank You Retired judge and SBAND member Bob Wefald donated 250 copies of his book Moments to the North Dakota Bar Foundation (NDBF), with all proceeds from the sales of the books going to the Foundation. The last book was recently sold, and the NDBF thanks Bob for his generous donation and contribution to the Foundation. SPRING 2017 29
