Wildlife release
sites needed!
Can you offer a release site for foxes,
badgers and other wildlife? We are
always keen to hear from people who
may have suitable land, especially
for fox and badger cub groups.
Things to consider;
• Whether there are badgers and
foxes already there
• How neighbouring land is used
and managed
• Whether there is food available
• Whether there is a water source
• Presence of a suitable sett or den
• Safety from persecution
• Safety from roads
Swan rescue
Contaminated water got this swan into
difficulties when it landed on a pond that
had appeared on industrial land.
Swan Rescue South Wales went to the aid
of the bird and brought it to West Hatch
for treatment. Here it had to be washed
twice to get it completely free of pollution,
but under the care and expertise of our
wildlife staff it made a speedy recovery.
After getting a clean bill of health from
our vet it was taken back to Wales and
successfully released back into the wild.

If you think you can help, please give us
a call on 0300 123 0721 and we can
talk you through the site selection process.
Taking on foxes or badgers entails us
building a temporary secure pen for the
animals and supporting them through
a soft release. The landowner will need
to be available to feed the animals over
a period of weeks and then open the gate
to release them. We ask that feeding
continues for a short time after the gate
is opened to support the young animals
whilst they develop their foraging and
hunting skills.
