CREATE A Whether male or female, everyone wants a dreamy walk-in closet. Whether yours is big or small, here are some tips and tricks to creating your dream closet. ADD EXTRA SHELVES , hanging bars, or drawers to get the most out of your space. If you have a large walk-in closet, you may want to consider hiring a professional to maximize your space. However, if you have a small closet or prefer to DIY, then simply purchasing a shelf unit or dresser to create extra storage may suffice. UTILIZE ALL VERTICAL SPACE taking your shelving as high to the ceiling as possible. Out of reach shelves can be used for storing seasonal items, luggage or sports gear. SHOW OFF YOUR SHOE COLLECTION by arranging your shoes by heel height starting with stilettos and ending with ballet flats. This creates visual appeal and makes it easier for you to instantly find the right pair of shoes. CREATE A VANITY AREA where you can display your jewelery, perfume and a lovely mirror. Add some décor flair by adding colorful shelf paper or using wallpaper to highlight this area as a focal point. If your closet is large, then I highly recommend getting velvet-lined jewelery dividers for your drawers. KEEP DIRTY CLOTHES OUT OF SIGHT and organized by using laundry bags or bins labelled for delicates, whites and colors. HANGING A LARGE MIRROR creates the illusion of more space and allows you to get a final look of your outfit. And finally, sometimes it’s the little details that make all the difference. Buy matching hangers for a unified theme throughout the closet. Give your closet a boutique feel by installing a valet rod to hang clothes for the next day or plan outfits for a trip. A retractable version that pulls out only when needed is a good choice. Add a plush rug and small ottoman to sit on while trying on shoes for added style and comfort. - Text by Christine Da Costa
