Driving nearly 400 miles with Troy Brown, Christian Comer, Calvin Snedeker, David Toupin, and Mr. Louis-Prescott to Lewis County, Ky., did not, at first, seem like the most ideal way to spend a Saturday. I woke up at 7:00 a.m. after about four hours of sleep, so with my eyes barely open, I piled a mountain of random clothes and toiletries in my bag then dragged my feet – and my suitcase – to the car outside. We pulled up to Glenmary Farm seven hours later. This is where we spent the next week with 20 other boys from Edmund Rice schools throughout the United States. After introductions and orientation, it didn’t take long for us to become a group of brothers. The whole purpose of our presence in Lewis County was to serve those suffering from poverty and injustice in that area.
