Almost 300,000 aviation fans were treated to two action-packed days in Zeltweg - giving the local tourist industry and economy a boost. It was left to the Turkish Stars to bring AIRPOWER13 to an impressive close, bringing down the curtain on an airshow that has been a major success for everyone involved. The weather has been perfect, and 300,000 aviation fans visited Hinterstoisser Air Base. Among many other highlights they got to see a spectacular demonstration by the Austrian Air Force, the impressive Flying Bulls fleet and, for the first time in Europe, Felix Baumgartner’s Red Bull Stratos pressure capsule and suit (which will be exhibited in Hangar-7 from July 2 until the end of the year). Plus hundreds of thousands of people were able to follow the air show programme live online and on ServusTV. One of the around 300,000 visitors who followed the performances of the Austrian Air Force and other guests of AIRPOWER13 with enthusiasm was Austrian Minister of Defence and Sports, Gerald Klug. He has already pledged his support for a continuation of the AIRPOWER success story: “It won’t be long before the next air show and I can imagine that 2015 will be another successful event.” For this edition of the air show Red Bull teamed up with the Austrian Armed Forces to present AIRPOWER. The Aie Show took place over the weekend of June 28 and 29 and featured, amongst many other things, live rapid response demonstrations from the Eurofighter and Black Hawk helicopter, appearances from the Iveco and Dingo armoured military transport vehicles and what was promised to be stunning performances from crowd favourites The Flying Bulls. The Red Bull aerobatic team pulled out all the stops with a full range of truly impressive machines from their collection - such as the P-38L Lightning, the B-25J Mitchell, the F4U-4 Corsair and the BO-105 helicopter.
