Good luck to all of these students as they take on extra
responsibility and an increased workload. We all hope
that you enjoy the challenges of your new positions of
responsibility within the school and that you represent
yourself, your fellow students and your school with
distinction.
As well as representing the student body, the Student
Council also organizes 2 main events each year, the first
of which is the Halloween Party which this year is being
held on the evening of Friday November 1 from 6pm –
10pm. Plans are already being made for the ever popular
Haunted House, the student disco, food and drink and
much more.
What can parents do?
As most of students internet time is at home parents
have a responsibility to monitor what their children are
doing and who they are communicating with on the
internet.
Focusing for now on Facebook, as a parent please
consider these questions:
? How much time does your child spend on
Facebook each day?
? Are you a friend with your child on Facebook
(as the legal age for Facebook is 13)?
? Does your child have more than one Facebook
account?
? Have you checked the language your child is
using on Facebook?
? Have you looked at your child’s friends list and
asked them who different people are?
The internet is a wonderful tool but there is no doubt
that we as educators and parents must continue to
educate and monitor the way that our students /
children use this great tool.
If you don’t know how facebook works please email
the school so that we can arrange to help you.
