Spotlight on Secondary Tel: [phone] ? 0388 93716/8 [email protected] www.standrews-schools.com Field Trip to University Fair On Thursday 31st November Year 11 and 12 students attended a University Fair in Bangkok where over 50 institutions were represented. Our students had the opportunity to talk directly to the people making admission decisions. Some of the comments from students include; “ They were very honest about how difficult it is to get in to some of the courses”, “Most of the Universities have high expectations”, “Ahrraa…to many choices!!”. Our students returned loaded down with booklets, pamphlets and hopefully full of new ideas and information. I would like to comment on the outstanding behaviour and attitude of St Andrews students. As I walked around the fair I was constantly impressed by the questions being asked and the discussions taking place between our students and the admissions staff. Congratulations to all our Yr 11 and 12 students. Term 1 Reports and Parent Teacher Meetings End of term 1 report cards will be sent home to parents on Friday November 22. As usual, this report will have an attainment and effort grade for your child in each of their subjects. Your child’s report will also now have a Target Grade which is the grade they will be working towards achieving by the end of the school year. To follow up the Term 1 Report Cards and to help give parents more information about their child’s progress, our first Parent Teacher Meeting Day of the year will be held on Wednesday November 27 so please write that date down in your diary. The 3 meeting sessions available will again be 8am – 10am, 10.20am – 12.20pm and 1.20pm – 3.20pm. Remembrance Day Poppies Monday November 11 is Remembrance Day, the day that we stop, reflect and remember all the soldiers who have died defending their countries. At school we will be having a special secondary assembly on the day. This week and next we will also be selling Remembrance Poppies through the school office so please pop in and purchase one when you get the time.
