Spotlight Magazine VJ Day - 15th August Saturday 15th August 2015 will be the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in Japan – or VJ Day. The Edwinstowe branch of the Royal British Legion will be leading the local celebration of this event, which saw the formal ending of all hostilities in WW II. We are planning this event in the vicinity of the High Steet Edwinstowe and on Mansfield Road, commencing at 10 am. Many of the local businesses and organisations have expressed interest and we are hopeful that the weather will be favourable and we shall have a good turnout. We want to engage with both the young and older members of our community and welcome everyone to join us. This event will not involve the closure of the High street. people of Britain and the Commonwealth were celebrating the end to the six years of WW II. We are inviting people to dress up if they have something fitting to wear that captures that era and to bring along any WW II memorabilia if they have it. Please put this date in your diary and come along between 10 am and 3 pm to help us celebrate this important occasion.
