HEAVY ENGINEERING AND WEAR PARTS the impact toughness of 500 Brinell plates. In mining, this could extend the lifespan of dump truck bodies, excavator buckets and hoppers, for instance.
QUEND 1300 is a high-strength structural steel with a yield strength of 1,300 MPa, specifically developed for mobile crane telescopic booms. It offers exceptional strength, precise thickness tolerances and superior reliability, making it a preferred choice for lifting applications requiring high performance, structural integrity and enhanced safety in extreme conditions, the company claims.
PHIL adds‘ zero-emission steel’ to offering
Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc is expanding the steel options for its custom solutions portfolio by offering zero-emission SSAB Zero™ steel for its haul truck equipment.
SSAB Zero, from SSAB, is available as an
option for Philippi-Hagenbuch’ s entire line of custom products, including HiVol ® truck bodies, Rear Eject bodies, HiVol Water Tanks and the company’ s full line of off-highway trailers. The zero-emission steel alternative helps producers and fleet managers achieve their environmental goals with efficiencyenhancing equipment tailored to their operation, the company says.
“ Philippi-Hagenbuch has a history of being at the forefront of the industry when it comes to the materials we use and the designs of our products,” Josh Swank, Chief Growth Officer at Philippi-Hagenbuch, said.“ Zero-emission steel is part of that ongoing mantra we’ ve had over the last 55 years. This provides customers high-quality, fully customised equipment with the same toughness they’ ve come to expect with our products, but in a package that also helps minimise their environmental impact.”
SSAB Zero uses recycled steel, which supports the circular economy – a model of production and consumption focused on reusing products as long as possible. Zero-emission steel is available for Philippi- Hagenbuch’ s entire line of engineered-toorder products, but is most impactful on complete body replacements, such as HiVol Bodies, HiVol Water Tanks and Rear Eject Bodies, according to the company.
Philippi-Hagenbuch’ s zero-emission solutions provide the same benefits and specifications as those manufactured with traditional SSAB steel, and do not compromise in terms of durability or abrasion resistance, the company states. Though opting for zero-emission steel will increase the product cost, the dividends through carbon credit and potential to take on projects calling for more sustainable practices can assist users in achieving their sustainability goals. Philippi-Hagenbuch says it provides calculations for both options, allowing customers to make an informed decision about the steel selection for their products.
The company added:“ Zero-emission steel provides another environmental measure beyond those Philippi-Hagenbuch’ s products already offer. Each Philippi- Hagenbuch product is custom engineered to help customers maximise their haul truck potential, leading to more sustainable practices. Water tanks, for example, help mitigate dust and environmental particulates and provide more optimal spraying to minimise the need for backtracking and the associated fuel use. Truck bodies, tailgates and sideboards increase material hauling volume, meaning less trips and, therefore, less fuel consumption per tonne hauled.”
SSAB showcased the first SSAB Zero steel in the Hardox ® product range at bauma in April.
