CONVEYING
Railveyor was also selected as the preferred material haulage system in a prefeasibility study for Burgundy Diamonds’ Fox Project in Canada’ s Northwest Territories— presenting a strong case for Railveyor’ s value in reducing operational costs and enhancing a mine’ s long-term viability. Burgundy Diamonds’ updated pre-feasibility study highlights the improved economics of Railveyor’ s lower operating costs and reduced infrastructure compared to traditional methods. Importantly, the system negates the need for an underground crusher and allows easy track extension as the mine deepens.
Studies on Railveyor’ s performance in active mining operations demonstrated that the system reduced mine-wide emissions by up to 39 %, when compared to diesel trucks. Railveyor also delivers on low operational costs, reducing operating expenditure by as much as 75 % compared to truck haulage. The value delivered by Railveyor technology therefore helps mines to reduce both their cash costs and their emission levels.
Seamless flow- Bedeschi on conveyor excellence
Founded in 1908, Bedeschi stands at the forefront of bulk material handling and transport, pioneering advanced solutions with Italian engineering excellence for over a century. The company told IM it prides itself on delivering top-tier conveyor solutions tailored to every stage of the mining process. From in-plant conveyors designed to serve individual process areas to longdistance overland systems that eliminate the need for truck transport from quarries, its range covers it all.
Conveyor reliability directly impacts operational efficiency in mining. Bedeschi conveyor systems it says are engineered for maximum throughput and minimal material degradation, contamination, and spillage.“ We design and supply a complete range of technologies, including belt, chain, and pipe conveyors, as well as fully enclosed systems- each equipped with advanced dust containment features. All materials and components are carefully selected for abrasion resistance and long operating life, ensuring our solutions perform even in the most demanding environments.”
Empresa Constuctora Belfi SA chose Bedeschi for its latest project in TGN Port( Terminal Graneles del Norte). TGN Port is located in Mejillones Bay at the heart of Chile’ s mining region. It has a strategic location, close to the most important copper district in the world, which contains world famous mineral deposits. The project includes the full automated handling equipment for receiving, storage container staking, transport and ship loading of copper concentrate and Bedeschi designed and is supplying three belt feeders designed to receive copper concentrate from rotating containers; an underground conveyor of approximately 400 m length in the storage yard; and a pipe conveyor of approximately 950 m to connect the storage yard overland conveyor to the dock facility.
The pipe conveyor was chosen to guarantee the handling of copper concentrate from the storage to the ship without any dispersion of materials in the surrounding area to avoid environmental pollution. Besides avoiding the spillage and dust emission, the use of a pipe conveyor allows to get rid of several transfer points between straight conveyors. This solution reduces the consumption of energy need to handle the material, not to mention the energy used for the filters and other suppression system to lower dust emission.
Another example of Bedeschi’ s engineering is the full engineering and the supply of key components for a coal transport line to the Indian Power Company Mahagenco. The main equipment involves four pipe conveyors, with a total length of over 16 km, bringing coal from a mine to the stockyard in a power plant. The conveyors are rated for 1,200 t / h, with a diameter of the conveyor equal to 450 mm. The overall

Clearly, it’ s time for a change.
