Why vision boards DON'T work!
Inspired by a deep conversation with the inspirational Dave Blanchard
Allison, you may be thinking, how can you say that? After all, I did get a horse and a car and a trip to Hawaii all with in a short amount of time after I put those things in my vision board. BUT, here is the cold, hard truth. (For those of you who prefer only rainbows and butterflies and not reality, read no further). I am not saying vision boards are bad. I still use them. However,
FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD
ATTRACTION WITHOUT ACTION IS JUST A FRACTION.
Just looking at a picture or a piece of paper will not make you happy. In fact, it will cause frustration, dissatisfaction and even low self-esteem UNLESS you are willing to do something.
We attracted a horse because when my kids came home from school the day after putting it on the vision board saying their teacher was giving one away we did not say no because we were broke and we lived in a sub division with a small backyard. We took action and made calls and deals and made arrangements until we found a way to keep that horse.
I did not get a car by looking at it on my wall. I got a car because after I made that my goal I worked hard and found a good deal. I didn't wait, I worked.
According to Napoleon Hill, "Happiness is found in doing, not merely possessing."
Remember the mere possession of a vision is not in and of itself happiness nor is it the means to an end, rather ultimate fulfillment comes from the act of manifesting ones desire.
What are you DOING to achieve your goals?
What ACTIONS are you taking to make your
dreams a reality? If you do nothing, nothing will
happen. Vision boards don't do the work, you do!
Tip:
When you create your vision board, also create a plan of action to achieve your goals. Vision boards are a great tool to help you achieve your gaols, but they wont do the work for you!
