We ’ ve fought tooth and nail to protect trappers nationwide since 1978 . We worked with partners to defeat an attack on beaver trapping on federal lands in Oregon and an effort to end commercial fur farming in Washington state that included language making it illegal for trappers to sell hides . The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance opposed New Mexico Senate Bill 32 and led a coalition of more than 20 organizations to stop it . Unfortunately , New Mexico ’ s legislature didn ’ t want input from opponents and passed the bill banning trapping on public lands .
