Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League President
Kirk Kuppers calls it, “a league with a difference,”
and there is no question that it is. The players from
the MWJHL come from all over and because it’s
one of the few female junior leagues in Canada,
it offers women a chance to keep playing after
they’ve aged out of midget or high school hockey.
The schedule is such that it also offers the players a
chance to work or continue with their educations.
They play a few times a week at the MTS Iceplex so
make sure you find the time to go and watch. Our
photographers, Jeff Miller and James Carey Lauder
have done just that. l
