Garrett Jones and Brendan Thielmann go up for the block
“we stay healthy,” and Captain Thielmann does not disagree.
“I think Larry’s evaluation of our team is fair,” said
Thielmann. “I think we have a really good team and I think
we can compete in Canada West, but I’m just not sure what
it is with all the injuries. If we can find a way to stay healthy I
think we have a team that’s good enough to challenge.”
A Kinesiology student at the U of W who played a bit
of soccer as a youngster, Thielmann isn’t sure what he’ll
do at the end of the season. He admits he’d like to coach,
eventually, but for now, there is still a lot of volleyball left this
season.
“We still have a long schedule ahead and I’m not really
thinking about what I might do when I graduate or what I’ll
do next season,” he said. “I just really like playing on this
team. All the coaches are outstanding and every guy on the
team brings an element to the gym that makes us a better
team. The coaches have a lot of work to do this year with all
the injuries and they’ve been great. To be part of a program
like this is wonderful.” l
