Sport Manitoba and Coaching Manitoba have announced an update to the mandatory Respect in Sport ( RiS ) recertification to now be occurring for all Manitoba based coaches to every five years . Manitoba was the first province to make the RiS program mandatory and we are equally proud to be the first to make recertification mandatory . Basketball Manitoba is proud to partner with Sport Manitoba and embrace the Respect in Sport program to help ensure a safe and positive sport environment for all participants .
If you had completed the course in or before 2011 and to maintain your status as an active basketball coach in Manitoba , you will need to complete the new online course by March 31 , 2017 . The online course itself has been greatly revamped and updated since originally launching in 2007 and touches on new topics that coaches may experience in today ’ s game including social media , cyber-bullying , hazing , gender identification and more . In all , the course takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete and can be completed in 20-30 minute pieces .
IMPORTANT : If you have completed the course in the past and are looking to re-certify , please use your login information used when you initially completed the course . There are options at the point of logging in you can follow to recover your login information if needed .

Respect in Sport ( RiS ) helps us promote those values through a simple and convenient on-line training course for coaches and sport leaders . It is designed as a tool to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse , neglect , harassment , and bullying in sport .
