The athletes filling Koskie Field, Whittier Park and Charleswood Park
on the first weekend of June aren’t just the best baseball players in
Manitoba and the West – which they are – but they’re among the
best athletes.
Joey Moffatt (Team Manitoba), Noah Geekie (Team Manitoba) and
Ian Briscoe are all Western Hockey League draft picks while Bennett
Dalke (Winnipeg South) was drafted by the Brandon Wheat Kings
and is already a star in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. There
was also the talented young female pitcher Brittany Langlais (North
Winnipeg). These were the kinds of athletes fans got to see as the
12-team 2016 Midget Triple A Baseball Classic came to town. Our
photographer, Jeff Miller, got out to watch Carillon face Regina and
brought back this record of a morning at Whittier Park. l
