TCI had a short bench and heard that Murdoch MacKay didn’t
have enough players to make a team either, so they asked
Murdoch to join their team. Both the school’s players and
principals were excited to be together. Some of the players
have played every year of their high school eligibility while
they also rostered some rookie players.
Kristen Fraser, a grade 12 student at TCI has some great
memories. “I have played for my school for all 4 years. As a
member of the school team in Grade 9, I was shy and just
followed what the older girls did. I remember how welcoming
they were and how they made sure we had fun and were
proud of our school. As a member of the team in Grade
12 I was one of the leaders and captains. I encouraged the
younger girls to have fun and be proud of our school. Since
this is the only chance we get to play together it was great and
gave me the opportunity to meet and play with other ringette
players in my school.”
“Although in my 4 years of playing we only had 1 win
representing TCI, in the high school tournament, it is
something I am proud of and will never forget. It was so much
fun! I will miss it when I graduate this year. I do hope to
come back and help coach and mentor the team in the future.
I will come back with the same pride in Transcona Collegiate
as I have now!

“The most work came with making the teams stick to the
spirit of the tournament which we believe was to promote
and showcase our great sport in high schools and allow the
school to show their school spirit by participating. We took
a lot of time and sent a lot of e-mails to ensure that teams
followed the rules. Over the years most associati
