The Bison Women’s Soccer Team, under the direction
of head coach Vanessa Martinez Lagunas has started
its 12th season in the Canada West Conference.
This year, the team is led by captain Amanda Wong.
Who was the captain last season before an injury
ended her campaign. Last season, the Bisons led
the Canada West East Division table for the first six
weeks, and then, after a series of injuries, finished
the regular season with a respectable 7-5-2 record.
This represented the second-best team record in the
program’s history (just behind the 10-4-0 team record
achieved in 2007, when current FC Kansas City and
Team Canada Olympic star, Desiree Scott, was still on
the team). This year, big things are expected from the
Bison women. l
