Second Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp to support KidSport
KidSport Winnipeg and Mark Scheifele, Winnipeg Jets forward and
KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador, recently announce the
Second Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp. The two-day hockey
camp is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 and features both skater and
goalie specific training sessions. Scheifele, along with expert coaches
from the Jets Development Team will provide kids with fundamental
& advanced on-ice skills training and off-ice multi-sport instruction.
Winnipeg Jet goaltender Michael Hutchinson will assist with the
goalie training sessions. The camp will take place June 25 & 26, 2016
at the MTS Iceplex. The camp is in support of KidSport Winnipeg and
all proceeds will go towards paying the registration fees for kids from
financially disadvantaged families so they can participate in sports.

Goldeyes Honor Dancing Gabe With Bobblehead
The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced that in conjunction with the
team’s annual Hometown Heroes night on Wednesday, July 13th. ,
there will also be a Dancing Gabe Bobblehead giveaway. The first
1,000 fans in attendance at Shaw Park on July 13th will receive a
“Dancing Gabe” bobblehead, courtesy of ABC Fire & Safety. The
Goldeyes play host to the Sioux City Explorers that night at 7:05
p.m. and the bobblehead will honor Winnipeg’s own Gabriel
(Dancing Gabe) Langlois who has inspired and entertained
the local sports community for more than 30 years. Diagnosed
with Autism as a child, Langlois has overcome various obstacles
throughout his life, and is now the most recognized and beloved
sports fan in the city. He also knows more sports trivia than most
of the fans who watch him dance – combined. Born in La Prairie,
Que., Gabe attends more than 150 sporting events in Winnipeg
each year, and was even present for the inaugural groundbreaking
ceremony at Shaw Park in 1998. During his time as the city’s number one super fan, Langlois has been actively
involved in helping local charities that support Manitobans with disabilities.
Thien Vo Steals the Show
Back on March 20, 78 of Manitoba’s finest players were on hand for the Pal
Chawla Manitoba Junior Open and once again Thien Vo, Manitoba’s newest elite
badminton force, stepped out on the courts and could not be defeated, winning
the Triple Crown: The U19 Boys Singles, Boys Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Thien
Vo is still not a Canadian Citizen nor an owner of a PR Card and is therefore
ineligible to compete for Manitoba in the Canadian Junior Nationals scheduled
in May. However because he’s lived in Manitoba for more than a year, he is now
eligible to compete in the Manitoba Provincial Championships at Winnipeg
