Tryouts Set for
May 27-29
The Manitoba Provincial Team
Program, the premier player
and coach development program in the province announces
the Provincial Team Tryouts for the upcoming summer on May
27-29, 2016 at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre.
The program attracts the top players and coaches to represent
Manitoba at national and international events, operating
annually May through August. The summer of 2016 will see a
total of 4 Provincial Teams formed at the male and female 17U
and 15U.

2. The 2 female teams will then head to
ca/2016/03/2016-manitoba-provincial-team-tryouts
Ames, Iowa on July 6-8 and participate
in the Simply The Best Tournament (NCAA certified event) and then head to Chicago July
10-12 and compete in the Nike Tournament of Champions (NCAA certified event), at the end
of July both teams head to the 17U and 15U Female Canadian National Championships in
Regina, SK. The 15U and 17U male teams will also compete in the Prairie Challenge series in Brandon, MB, the MidWest Summer Slam (NCAA certified event) in Ames, Iowa from July 8-10, the D1 Summer Classic in Minneapolis,
MN (NCAA certified event) July 15-17, and then host the 17U and 15U Canadian National Championships in
Winnipeg. All dates can be found in Basketball Manitoba’s website calendar in July & August.
The 16U age level will have the opportunity to develop with the 2016 Manitoba Games which are scheduled for August
2016. Details on the basketball tryouts will be released in the coming week.

Courses Set for April & May

UPDATED CLINICS ADDED: Basketball
Manitoba is pleased to announce it will be
hosting another offering of the NCCP Coaching Certification courses
in April and May 2016 in Winnipeg. This new offering replace the
old NCCP Level 1 and 2 Technical and Theory courses and are for
coaches working with athletes from 12-16 years of age. These levels
are also required for all coaches who are interested in coaching in
their respective future Provincial Team, Manitoba Games, North
American Indigenous Game and other levels. The courses will
comprise both classroom and on court sessions and will focus
on Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and age appropriate

The 4 day event will involve male and
female teams in the 14-19 age range.
Deadline to register a team is Friday
April 22, 2016 at a fee of $350 per team.
