naturally. After all, Tyson’s dad, Darcy,
is a terrific athlete in his own right. In
fact, his dad is a multi-faceted martial
artist who has competed in a number
of disciplines both nationally and
internationally.
“I was a boxer for most of my
younger life,” said Darcy. “I grew up in
Winnipeg. My dad was Ojibwe and my
mom was Russian. I went to Elmwood
High School where I played hockey and
wrestled and I played a couple of years
of junior hockey with the old Southeast
Blades up at Sagkeeng.
“But I was always involved in
some kind of combative sports. I
had 53 amateur (boxing) fights and
went 51-2-0. I fought in the Western
