THE PULSE October 2016 Edition STORY º HEALTH & WELLBEINGº D&A Urban Gym Arbroath Campus The urban gym, one of the first of its kind in any college in Scotland, the project was funded partly through Angus Council Stalled Spaces, a Legacy 2014 programme supported by Architecture and Design Scotland and the Scottish Government, with further support from the D&A Innovation Fund. “Many of our students live on a very low budget so access to gym memberships or sports clubs is not an option,” This project aims to overcome these barriers and support both our staff and students to lead a more active lifestyle The unique project has involved collaborative working between the colleges Sports Union, Learner Engagement, Sports, Engineering & Landbased teams SPORTS INTERN Sports Union Intern Megan Potter is based in both our Kingsway & Arbroath Campus’. Megan has various projects schedullled including a ‘Monday mile’ challenge, health screening, mini sports competitions and much more.
