Jack Gunston will win the Coleman

10 Bold Predictions

Buddy who? Will be the cry from Hawthorn supporters following a year to remember from Jack Gunston. He showed just what he could do with a four goal performance against the Dockers in the Grand Final last year.

With no Lance Franklin this year it gives Gunston a massive opportunity to step up as he is often underrated by opponent’s defences. With Hale or Roughed usually getting the number 1 and 2 defenders it is a realistic possibility Gunston could lead the goal scorers.

Plus playing in a free flowing Hawthorn line up has got to help!

West Coast has the Team to go all the way

This prediction is crazy if not ridiculous! Or is it? The blokes from out west have seriously the most underrated team in the competition. You want an amazing ruck duo? They got it. You want a midfield that can not only win you the ball, but win you games? They got it.

You want power forwards and small crafty forwards that can kick you a winning score? They got it. You want defenders that can shut down even the most dangerous forward? These guys have it!!

To further squash doubts about their ability try being an opposing player playing at Paterson’s Stadium. I guarantee it is probably the most hostile experience that you can experience as an opposition player playing the Eagles. Credit goes to the Eagles fans for creating such an accommodating atmosphere for their favourite players.

On paper the Eagles look like a genuine premiership contender and with new coach Adam Simpson on board, expect the Eagles to be invigorated after being coached by a burnt out John Worsfold.

One senses that Simpson has already mastered the “Lyon game” by telling the media that his side might “struggle” to be competitive in their first few games with him in charge as they come to terms with learning a new game plan.

His side quickly dispelled those rumours by clinically dispatching a Fremantle side resting 6 grand final players by 88 points and the Swans by 35 in Sydney. Although it is only the pre-season, there are already signs that this West Coast side is ready to roll in 2014.
