Whatever happens when Watkins heads to the NFL next Fall, there’s no question that
he has left his mark at Clemson. He finishes his collegiate career with 240 receptions
for 3391 yards and 27 touchdowns. During the course of his three seasons he has set
23 school records. His receptions and yardage are both records, while 27 TDs ties
former team-mate DeAndre Hopkins. He also set an impressive record registering more
than 100 yards in 15 separate games. There’s little doubt that Watkins’ presence at
receiver has been a big part of Clemson’s recent success. Tigers’ head coach Dabo
Swinney was quick to point out that his team’s 32 wins and Orange Bowl success over
the past three seasons were the strongest evidence of the 20-year old’s impact.
Watkins was the MVP against Ohio State, just one more way in which he has etched his
name forever in the school’s history books. It’s time to see what he can do at the next
level.
