I recalled when the first WNBA game was played, I remember watching my favorite WNBA player in Cythnia Cooper lead a young Tina Thompson, Sheryl Swoopes, and the Houston Comets on those incredible runs.
Since the beginning of Thompson’ s WNBA career, I have been rooting for her. I saw her live in action for the first time last year, all though she isn’ t playing the large roles has she had been early in her career, I was still so excited to see her( one of
the Original Comets – as I call her).
I remember telling my husband before the game how excited I was to see her live in action and how as a person / girl growing up loving and playing the game of basketball, the impact that she had on my outlook of women professional sports.
As I wave goodbye to the last of the“ Original Comets”, I know I, as well as other fans, will have the opportunity of seeing her as an analyst in the near future.
I have enjoyed watching Tina and I will surely miss the signature red lipstick.
