I recalled when the first WNBA game was played , I remember watching my favorite WNBA player in Cythnia Cooper lead a young Tina Thompson , Sheryl Swoopes , and the Houston Comets on those incredible runs .
Since the beginning of Thompson ’ s WNBA career , I have been rooting for her . I saw her live in action for the first time last year , all though she isn ’ t playing the large roles has she had been early in her career , I was still so excited to see her ( one of
the Original Comets – as I call her ).
I remember telling my husband before the game how excited I was to see her live in action and how as a person / girl growing up loving and playing the game of basketball , the impact that she had on my outlook of women professional sports .
As I wave goodbye to the last of the “ Original Comets ”, I know I , as well as other fans , will have the opportunity of seeing her as an analyst in the near future .
I have enjoyed watching Tina and I will surely miss the signature red lipstick .
