NEWS I AM THE AROUND THE COUNTRY MIA FARROW CHASTISED FOR TWEETING HUNTER’S ADDRESS Actress Mia Farrow faced widespread backlash from Twitter followers after posting the business address of Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist facing worldwide criticism for the killing of “Cecil” the lion. Even a few of Farrow’s antihunting followers called her out on her actions, exclaiming that posting the doctor’s personal information was taking it too far. ZIMBABWE SUSPENDS HUNTING AMID WORLDWIDE ‘CECIL’ UPROAR The hunting of lions, elephants and leopards has been suspended in the area around Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park in the wake of the death of “Cecil” the lion. Likewise, bowhunting has been banned throughout the country due to the use of a crossbow on the lion hunt. Made famous by tourist guides and photo safari operators, Cecil became more famous in death than he ever had been in life. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sold 1,254 bear hunting permits in just two days, a clear indication of interest in bear hunting. Sportsmen can purchase permits through Oct. 23, the day before the seven-day season is schedule to start. PROFESSOR RAISES FUNDS FOR ANIMAL-RIGHTS TERRORIST Barry Friedman, a political science professor at the University of North Georgia, is asking visitors to his profi le page on the school website for funds to support jailed animal-rights activist Camille Marino. Marino was incarcerated in February for a domestic violence charge against another animal-rights activist, Steven Best, who is a professor at University of Texas, El Paso. 11 STATES CALL FOR INVESTIGATION OF HSUS The Midwestern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments passed a resolution calling on 11 state attorney generals to investigate the Humane Society of the United States over deceptive marketing and fundraising tactics. The news comes as no surprise given HSUS’ recent string of legal snafus, including an active investigation by Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.
