Now we have an U12’s, U14’s and U16’s team for the girls. My youngest daughter also plays in the U11’s alongside the boys and will move into the U12’s girls team from next season. “The most challenging parts of the role are arranging events and making it more successful than the one before. I sometimes get too involved. I have a fantastic team of junior coaches who I work with within the club, and we all have very good relationships. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss any issues and arrange events throughout the year which we then all pull together to make them a success. The friends the kids make at the club are friends they will have for life and this is so rewarding to see friendships being formed. “There is always a buzz around the club on match days and at events. It has been a good year! We have just celebrated our 50th anniversary French Exchange in April which was a massive success with 40 French boys coming over to us to play rugby and being housed by our Shaw Cross parents of all age groups. Plans are now taking place for our boys to return to France next April. “We are always planning events and fundraisers throughout the year in means of a junior gala, Boxing night, car washes, bag packs, ladies nights, sportsman’s dinner, race night ... so always plenty happening. “The plan now is to continue being a successful club. Youth development is very important to the club. It teaches children discipline, respect, how to socialise and have fun with their friends, be a team player, keeps them off the streets, keeps them fit and active. 38 Issue 01 “I first got involved with Shawcross Sharks through my little boy playing down there last year. He’s currently playing in the under 8’s and Joshua is loving it, he’s rugby mad! I get down to watch all the games and training sessions and the club is brilliant, everyone is so hard working and the members are very selfless. Juice Personnel have sponsored the under 8’s after match shirts this season and we’re also sponsors of our local team Wakefield Trinity; So along with supporting our local, professional team we like to sponsor our local grass roots team - Shawcross Sharks. From everyone at Juice Personnel we would like to wish the club all the best moving forward and hope the team keeps training hard and continues to have fun.” Kelly Smith, Juice Personnel
