oole AFC have exciting plans in place to be an Evo Stick
Premier League side in the future. Sport Yorkshire Magazine
recently caught up with Club Chairman Alan Wilson to find out
more about how they have been getting along lately.
He told us, “I have been a sponsor/season ticket holder/
supporter at Goole for several seasons, most of which have not
been good. As a football club it was always hampered by the
fact that it had very restricted access to its’ home, the Victoria
Pleasure Ground (VPG) through its’ rental lease. Such things
as home pre-season games, were things that couldn’t happen,
and thus the opportunity to raise funds prior to the start of the
season were severely hampered.”
“The football club has rented the VPG from Goole Town
Council (GTC), who in turn rented it from East Riding Council.

Previous Chairmen have tried without success to negotiate the
release of the VPG to the football club. It was always felt that
the club would never be able to grow without access to its’
own ground.
“In June of this year GTC in conjunction with East Riding
Council granted the football club a one year trial management
period. So from 01/07/18 to 30/06/19 we had complete charge
for the first time in the club’s history. The carrot at the end of
