Sport Yorkshire Magazine recently caught up with Club Representative James Rowson to gain an insight into their success. Involvement He told us, “I’ve been involved with the club since 2013. What attracted me was the two water-based pitches that very few clubs in the North let alone Yorkshire can boast they have! We are all volunteers at the end of the day, so any help we can get from our members goes a long way. We are currently looking for a number of social media and marketing guru’s to help us gain sponsorship from local businesses and help with the promotion of the hockey club and sports club as a whole. As one of the largest cities without a university to rely on a steady flow of young adults who play hockey, this can also be challenge but our top class pitches definitely help. 14 Issue 01 The most rewarding part of my role certainly this year is seeing so many teams get promoted and hosting the England Hockey U16 Tier 1 Championships at the beginning of April. In the past we have hosted numerous international friendlies and were the training ground for the Chinese Women’s Hockey Team during the London Olympics in 2012.” Atmosphere “The mood here is bouyant! Both our Ladies and Mens 1st teams were promoted back in to the National League which is a huge achievement for the club and coaches. Lower down we have had a number of teams in both ladies and men’s sections that finished in the top half or won their league also. This will
