Bridlington town Bridlington Town FOOTBALL CLUB Bridlington Town FC is based at the Hudgell Solicitor Stadium, Queensgate and their first team currently competes in the Northern Counties East Football League. They are led by the team of Chairman Peter Smurthwaite and President Barrie Garton and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. Their first team enjoyed a fine league campaign this time around, compiling a record of twenty-four wins, five draws and nine defeats from their thirty-eight matches. This saw them finish in third place in the league with seventy-seven points on the board. This should provide them with the perfect platform from which to build as they look ahead to the 2019-20 season. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of pushing on again. One of the highlights of the team’s performances this time around was the attacking brand of football that they were able to produce. This was reflected by the fact that they found the back of the net 98 times in the league alone at a rate of well over two per game. This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. Bridlington Town is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section and this is reflected by the fact that they also run a youth side. This team looks to provide young players from the local area with the opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period of time to be able to produce their own talent. It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters can progress over the coming years. Bridlington Town FC is a club that is committed to providing as many players as possible every week with the opportunity to play the game and this is reflected by the fact that they also run a reserve side. This allows them to give twice as many players a game. Another benefit of running a reserve side is that it allows the first team to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or work commitments they have the option of calling up replacements with a limited amount of disruption. There is much to admire about the fine set up that Bridlington Town FC currently has in place and this is being reflected in the results they are achieving on the pitch. If they continue in the same manner then they should be able to look forwards to a bright and successful future for many years to come. Bridlington Shellfish Co. Ltd.
