“The year was huge for Pocklington
Tennis Club with the addition of
floodlights on four of its six astroturf
courts being a real ‘Game changer’. The
ability to be able to use the courts all year
round and in the evenings is something
dreams are made of. The membership and
use of its courts is increasing. Coaching

“We have known Chris French of
Pocklington Tennis Club for many
years and have previously sponsored
tournaments there. I have been
playing tennis for over 25 years and
play more in the York League now
but have played against the club in
various tennis matches and their
facilities are superb.
I still follow the clubs progress
and have a keen interest on how
they are developing and I play and
help support the Ladies charity
tournaments which the club hosts.
From everyone at NFU Mutual we
would like to wish the club all the best
and hope their members continue to
get much enjoyment from all their
hard work.”

“The Tennis Club must move
forward to make the Club maintain its
place as one of the premier clubs in the
area. The club are currently investigating
the possibility of covering the two
remaining astroturf courts which are
not floodlit with a structure. This would
enable tennis or other sports to be played
no matter what the weather outside was
doing.
We know there is a need for courts of
this type, (my Coach tells me most days),
it will have a great impact on not only
the local community, but also the whole
area, and this will make the project fully
sustainable. Watch out funders, we are
heading your way!”
