Northumberland FA FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/SPORTNEMAG “I’ve been involved with the Northumberland FA since October 2018. I was already a sponsor of various sporting affiliations and found common ground with Andrew Cook the Commercial Manager at Northumberland FA around fair play in football. Reeves have now created and sponsored the Fair Play Cup, that rewards teams and clubs that win the game the right way. I am a strong believer of grass root sports and football in particular. I’ve been a player, coach, chairman and manager throughout the years of being involved with grass root sports and am a real believer in competition and winning. However, I like to see it done in the right way … keeping the aggression down and the respect of fellow players and referees up. I see a strong future with the Northumberland FA and am very proud to be associated with them.” Nigel Reeves “I have been involved with the Northumberland FA since the launch of the North East Sports Academies in 2008, but only recently took the decision to sponsor an U16 competition, the Tyne Met College Cup for the past couple of years. Through the sponsorship agreement we have supported the Northumberland FA U18 representative squad through offering our facilities so that players can access fitness provision, 3G pitch for training and strength and conditioning with our Health and Fitness manager. The College have also been working with Andrew Smith, the Referee Development Officer, looking at providing an offer for up and coming referees alongside their curriculum studies which is aimed at supporting learners who choose not to play competitive sport at the College. We have supported the Referees Association by hosting 3 x development seminars across the academic year where they supply guest speakers around various areas of refereeing and the rules of the sport. We have developed a SSE Wildcats centre in partnership with North Shields Juniors based at John Spence Community High School which is the longest running and most successful in the local area. We wish everyone the best and are proud to be a part of a great county FA.” Chris Wall, Tyne Metropolitan College #REEVESGRASSROOTS Investing in the future www.reevesifa.com 6 Issue 01
