By the end of it, we had around 10,000 hand knitted poppies from members of the club, supporters in Scotland, USA and Australia, all hanging proudly on the clubhouse, and we were delighted to be visited by around 1,000 people following the 11am silence who took time to come into the club and take in an Under 14 cup game. This year, through the generosity of a group of local councillors, we have just launched our Community Marquee, which will be hired out free of hire costs to local groups for end of season presentations, festivals, fundraisers etc. We are 18 Issue 01 “I first went to Consett Rugby Club as a sixteen year old to train but didn’t ever play for the club; I have always supported them as my local team but for the last ten years I have become a regular touchline supporter and around seven years ago I started taking and supplying them with action, team and player photography for the website and match day programmes. Consett RC is a fantastic community club from juniors to senior level and it’s great to be involved and give back to our local club. From us all here at George Ledger Photography we would like to wish everyone involved at Consett Rugby Club all the very best and all the success for the future.” George Ledger “Track Sports Wear have sponsored Consett Rugby Club for a number of years now; we are the club’s main kit supplier. We all get up to as many games as we can when they are playing at home and we are proud to be associated with such a great community club. I was the Director of Rugby at Consett Rugby Club last year and it was a great achievement as we got promoted that season. From all of us here at Track Sports Wear we would like to wish everyone associated with Consett Rugby Club all the very best and good luck for the rest of the season.” Andy Howels delighted to be able to offer this service during the summer months, to help other community groups in the area and look forward to welcoming more people to the grounds to see the facilities we have, and hopefully further increase our membership. As we move forward towards our Centenary, our ambitions are as clear now as they were when the club was formed in 1923 – to promote the furtherance of Rugby Union in Consett and the surrounding areas. The motto on our Club Crest is Nimis Non Sufficit Nobis – the sentiment being ‘Everyone is Welcome’ – something that will always be at the very centre of the way we run our club.
