“I first got involved with the club back in 1973 when I played for the Under 13’s, progressing through the Under 15’s and eventually into the 1st team. I am currently still playing now as a left arm slow bowler. I don’t play every week but I’m hoping to play a bit more this season for the second team who play in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Premier Cricket League which is sponsored by the Darlington Building Society. Our 1st team are in the Premier Division and the 2nd team are currently in Division 2. We also have a very young 3rd XI who play on Sundays. All three senior teams have exceptional young captains and so the future is bright. I have been the treasurer of Barnard Castle Cricket Club for around 34 years now; I was asked by the club to become treasurer after I had qualified as a chartered accountant. The new facilities at the club are fantastic, we are leaving a great legacy for the future generations that will be playing at Barnard Castle. I remember when I first started, we had a wooden hut to change in at the top of the ground with no electricity or showers, so the club has come a long way since I first played. The new club house is a great facility not just for the club but for the community as well with us being able to host weddings, christenings etc. but local charities can also use the facilities and there’s an over 50s lunch group that use the clubhouse as well. I am sure that Barnard Castle Cricket Club and all the teams representing the Club will enjoy great success in the upcoming season and hopefully for many years to come.” C David Stanwix, Club Treasurer “We first got involved with the club through obtaining the contract to work on the club’s extension of the clubhouse for their new function room. I then agreed to sponsor the club as a thank you for their business with us back in 2016. We have an advert in the club’s programme and also have an advertising banner around the ground. I would like to thank Barnard Castle Cricket Club for being such a pleasure to work with. They are one of the best clients I have worked with, very friendly, everyone was so passionate about the club and the quality of the build that they asked us to carry out and would just like to wish them all the best for the season ahead and going forward.” Richard Pinkney, Pinkney Builders Commercial and Residential Building Contractors g beyond boundaries 50 years Building beyond boundaries for over 50 years Established 1969 • Industrial Services • Ground works • Maintenance • Renovations • Conservation Work • Extensions • Design & Build Services also avilable LOCAL AUTHORITY APPROVED For complete peace of mind, call us now on 01388 731088 Website: www.pinkneybuilders.co.uk Email: [email protected] hed 1969 Address: Pinkney Building Contractors Ltd - West Park Farm, Helme Park, Tow Law, Co.Durham, DL13 4NR www.sportip.biz 15
