Forest Hill
GOLF CLUB
F
orest Hill Golf and Conference Centre is an established, well presented, golf
course located close to Leicester. We caught up with Club Representative Rachel
Crowden to find out more about how they have been getting along in recent times.
She told us, “I first started work on the construction of the course in 1989-1990 as a self-
employed contractor initially working in the building/landscaping trade with many
contracts for the company that first purchased the land to build the golf course on.
“Having worked in every department
throughout the years every day throws
different challenges. My main role now
is admin, however on a daily basis I get
called upon to sort out issues within the
club whether it be maintenance, IT issues
or covering front of house. I can put my
hand to anything now learning new skills
on a daily basis and by this have great
rewards all round.
“Everything seems to be positive at
the moment; the golfing season is well
76
underway now and has put a buzz back
into the clubhouse after the depressing
winter months which seem to be far
behind us.
“We are Golf Mark accredited and
look to welcome all visitors and provide
events for the public. It’s difficult to say if
we are considered a community club as
we are situated out in the sticks without
any form of public transport passing us,
however we do get a lot of people using
the facilities (bar, restaurant & driving
range) from the neighbouring villages.
“Forest Hill always tries to encourage
youth development within the club.
We have a junior golf academy which
provides golf teaching lessons from start
to finish providing them with challenge
booklets to be completed covering all
aspects of the game from etiquette to
completing a 18 hole game using all the
skills they have learnt and being awarded
an academy handicap.
