Alrewas and District RBL FOLLOW US ONLINE twitter.com/sportinprofile Alrewas & District RBL The Alrewas & District Royal British Legion Club is based on Rykneld Street in Burton-on Trent and plays an important role in the local community. The club is led by Chairman David MacNulty who is supported by Secretary Lesley Arnold and is progressing well under their guidance. The branch itself was formed in 1921 which is the same year as The Royal British Legion was established and has put together a proud history since them. They made the move to their current headquarters, a refurbished Roadchef, in 1995. They will be keen to build on their proud history and currently have more than 400 members of which 30 are part of the growing Women’s section. They have built a reputation for being a small, friendly village club where newcomers will always be given a warm welcome. The club does a fine job of providing people in their area with an opportunity to take part in a variety of different sports. Perhaps the highlight of this is the Crown Green Bowling which is a great way for people to interact as well as take part in active and competitive sport. They also have indoor sport and recreational facilities including snooker, pool, darts and dominoes which further serves to illustrate their commitment to playing an important role in the local community. The club also has a fully licensed bar serving traditional ales in a comfortable environment with visitor experience being enhanced by Sky Sports television. There is plenty of other entertainment on offer for those that want it as well with a programme that includes regular live music and bingo. They are always keen to welcome any parties visiting the National Memorial Arboretum and offer a wide range of meals from sandwiches right through to a three course meal, freshly prepared in their own kitchen. There are also a wide variety of hot and cold drinks on offer by prior arrangement. The Alrewas & District Royal British Legion Club really is a fine example of the important role that a well-run, hardworking set up can play in their local community. The people that give up their time to continue to provide such a superb service deserve tremendous credit for the work that they do. Hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come and everyone at Sport in Profile Magazine would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck for the future. 56 Issue 18 J.Howell & Daughters FUNERAL DIRECTORS LICHFIELD J.Howell & Daughters are an independent Funeral Directors well known throughout Lichfield and the surrounding area.
