to continue taking our juniors all over the UK for tournaments
and match play and to be the number one choice for netball in
the North East.
Youth development to us is of paramount importance, the
coaches spend relentless hours putting in place what we feel is
needed to help our young people achieve. We pride ourselves
on the fact that we identify that we are netball coaches, and are
not too proud to bring in other coaches who specialise in other
areas such as: strength and conditioning, nutrition, fitness,
sprint and plyometric experts.
As coaches, we continually update our skills by attending
workshops, lectures and observing top level coaches. As far as
youth development is concerned, I think we stand out alone
as a club, because we invite the parent on the journey with the
child to maximise long term athlete development.
What we have nurtured here at Grangetown, is a
community club; it is set in the heart of a very deprived ward,
one of the top ten overall in the U.K yet this club bursts with
talent, enthusiasm, commitment and passion in a sea of orange
and black on netball days.

Putting your pets first
If you are thinking of joining a club, don’t leave it one hour
longer; do it! It offers so much more than just playing a game,
it opens up so many doors and you meet so many people and
the level of camaraderie and team spirit you get you wouldn’t
experience anywhere else.
What we worry about at the club is the cutbacks from the
government which could affect our development as we have
been heavily supported by the council but continuous cutbacks
leaves it a massive threat to what we could possibly achieve
over the next five years.
Our ambitions for the next five years are to grow by 50%,
have community coaches in our local schools signposting
young people to the club, our own kit shop where our athletes
model the kit, to have our own specialist clinics and to be
unique to any other netball club not just in the north east but
nationally. We aim to step it up one big massive professional
level.”
