eeston hockey Club is fine example of a club playing an important
role in their local community with senior male and female sides
as well as a focus on developing young talent. Sport in Profile Magazine
recently caught up with Club Representative David Griffiths to find
out more.
He told us, “I have been at the club since I
was a child. I played in the men’s 1st team
for several years and played international
hockey for Wales. My father played
hockey and has managed the men’s 1st
team at Beeston Hockey Club for the
past thirty years!”
“The most challenging aspect to
running a large sports club like ours
is just keeping everything running
smoothly. There is a lot of work that
goes on daily and we have a good team
of people who work well together. The
most rewarding part of the job is when you

hear nice comments from visitors about the
venue and the organisation.
“I think everyone is in a positive mood
and looking forward to the new
season. We’ve got lots of new faces in
the men’s and ladies 1st team squads
next season and we’re all looking
forward to see how they gel together
and perform on the pitch. We’re also
looking forward to hosting England
Hockey events at the end of the
season.
“This year has been exceptionally busy
