Bovey Tracey successful introducing new members into the Club . So all in all we are really enjoying our cricket season . The feeling within the Club is very upbeat . All members are volunteers . The hours and dedication the members put in is probably one of the reasons why the Club is enjoying its success at the moment . However , we must not ‘ stand still ’ and already plans are in place to improve and enlarge our changing rooms , toilets and garage , plus improving the disabled access and providing disabled facilities .
Funding for this project will be a huge challenge and if successful our target to start this work is September 2018 .
Refurbishment to the main room and front of the
Pavilion took place a couple of years ago . The intention has always been to make the Pavilion available to the local community for different e v e n t s , meetings etc . We are enjoying our success at present , however , we are aware that this could change very quickly . Compared to other Cricket Clubs in Devon , we do not have the income streams that these Clubs
enjoy . It is always a huge challenge ‘ to balance the books ’. Another challenge in the next five years is to ensure we have another ground for our 3rd & 4th XIs to play their home games . Currently we use Buckfastleigh Sports Club , an excellent facility some twenty minutes drive down the A38 . However , we are aware that facility could be withdrawn in the future . Many of the roles on our current committee are overseen by members who are retired ; we need to be aware that they will not continue indefinitely so ‘ Succession Planning ’ is important to the continued future and success of our Club . We are considered one of the top cricket clubs in Devon . The County Club have used our facilities in the past and we hope that they will return in future years when our pitches are considered good enough for Minor County Cricket .
