Bromley
hoping to go one better than last year
and the Under 15s have won the Genese
Cup at the first attempt. Also The Under
19s are competing in the Kent T20, again
for the first time.”
Plans
“In the short term we will be looking to
finish the season as strongly as possible
as across the club we still have two
promotion places to play for, as well as
four cups.
From a bigger picture perspective, we
put in place a new structure for the
Senior Section last season and we will
be sitting down in the close season to
review that as well as putting in a more
robust day to day structure around the
Junior Section and specifically around
retention at fifteen plus.
We are also currently spending
considerable time building up for our
200 Year Anniversary that takes place in
2020 and have already secured a match
on the Nursery Ground vs the MCC as
part of the celebrations.”
Youth
“Youth Development is our Primary
Focus as we believe that it is the biggest
single reason why Clubs have not and
will not survive.
We are sadly constrained by space and
pitch availability but we still manage to
have over 200 Juniors, 100+ who attend
The Introduction to Cricket sessions on
a Sunday morning and 100+ who attend
the Hardball training sessions on a
Friday evening.
We run three Softball sides for the Under
9s in addition to delivering an ECB led
All Stars Cricket Programme, as well as
six hardball sides, (two at Under 11, 13
and 15) in addition to Under 17, Under
19 and Sunday Development XIs.
On the coaching side alone last season,
be it on training or on match days we
delivered in excess of 1300 coaching
hours, a number which will be exceeded
in 2017.
We currently have seven County Players
at Under 14 and below. Here Fiontan
Logan deserves special mention having
just made his maiden 2nd XI League 50
as well as scoring three centuries at age
group level. In addition to the numerous
members who have play District Cricket
we have Sam Smith in the Kent Academy.
Sam made his 1st XI Premiership debut
for the Club aged just fifteen.”
Commercial
“Our Flagship Fundraiser is the annual
match against the PCA which takes place
in August and raises much needed funds
for not only Youth Development but also
the Club in general. The format of the
day is a marquee lunch followed by some
fundraisers (auctions, raffles and Heads
& Tails) after which a PCA XI, made up
of former England Players, play a T20
match against the Bromley 1st XI. From
