the This Girl Can Campaign and in 2016
coach Rachael Dickens won the title of
‘This Girl Can Coach of the Year’ for the
North East region.
In addition to the new ‘Feel Good’
dance sessions Loud Arts CIC are
developing an access dance programme
for children and young people with
special educational needs and are
currently working in partnership with
local schools to shape the programme
which will be launched late 2017, helping
make dance more accessible to children
who aren’t able to attend mainstream
sessions. The programme will offer
stand-alone SEN sessions and also open
community sessions to integrate all
abilities.
Lead FDA Coach Rachael Dickens
said, “We are thrilled to be getting
more and more people involved in
dance. You don’t have to do it on a
competitive level; if you want to just
pop in for an hour a week that’s great!
We are helping to provide healthy,
fun, family activities and get more
people moving.”
Of course FDA are still working
hard and taking home the silverware,
but going back to their roots is proving
to be a rewarding, positive direction for
this organisation.
