Fr. Murphy’s
Camogie and Ladies
Football Club
Fr. Murphy’s Camogie and Ladies Football Club of London are already
looking forward to 2018, being 30 years since they were founded.
They started life as a ladies Gaelic
Football club, formed by members of the
Fr. Murphy’s hurling Club, especially
members of the Howlin family, originally
from Rathnure County Wexford.
A Camogie club was added in 1998,
by Darren Howlin. In a very short the
time the club has been successful in both
codes.
Since our last appearance on the
pages of Sport in Profile, both codes have
started training at Wasps FC, an excellent
facility, set in leafy West London, with a
great playing surface, dressing rooms
and a club house.

Membership has certainly increased
since moving there and we are now
aiming to have our own Gaelic pitch
there and make it our home.
The club has been very busy over
the last year, in August of last year, we
travelled to Dublin to participate in The
G.A.A. World Games. We played in
both the Camogie and Ladies Football
competitions, coming up against
teams from Asia, The Middle
East, Canada and the U.S.A.
It was a wonderful week
long competition, held at the
great faculties of University
College Dublin, although everyone was
exhausted at the end, it was a great
occasion.
In October, we were invited to
play an exhibition ladies Football
game in the Madejski stadium in
