Hockey CLUB
W
oking Hockey Club is
one of the biggest in
the Country offering
hockey at all levels,
ages and ranges of commitment. They
state on their website (www.wokinghc.
com) it is ‘not just about the hockey’ as
for many of their players, whilst they
love a competitive game, the social side
is as important.
They run nine men’s teams, six ladies,
one mixed and numerous junior sides.
The England Hockey ‘Back to Hockey’
initiative has been very successful and
they have many new members who are
discovering (or rediscovering!) a passion
for hockey.
The 1st XI ladies are in the South
League and the 1st XI men are newly
promoted to the South Premier Division
following an incredible play off day
where they won both their games by a
golden goal in extra time.

schools and England Hockey.
That role has morphed into what I do
now as Club Secretary. It incorporates
the smooth running of the club with the
development which encompasses raising
money, saving money, making best use of
our facilities and anything between filling
the soap dispenser to putting in funding
bids!
My biggest challenge is that it has
become a huge role and can feel like it is
taking over my life. However, it also fits
brilliantly in to my work/life balance and
