Beckenham Lawn Tennis CLUB anniversary. The Club has produced a calendar for the year and hope as many people as possible g e t involved with the events that we are holding.” The tennis section is set to hold Open Days in April, May and on the 25th June ahead of Wimbledon, with two former Davis Cup players coming to the club. They will hold junior and adult coaching sessions before playing an exhibition match. We’re hoping to make it into a day of celebration as well with former Beckenham international tournament champions in attendance.” Challenges/Ambitions “Our goal here is to build a new pavilion for the club as a whole. Potentially, we would like to have a gymnasium for our members to use as well. We’re looking to evolve to become a little more commercial to help us to progress. This should enable us to build the clubhouse and grow the role that we play in our community so that we can continue to provide sport for the next 150 years.” The Club “The tennis section has around 400 members and 1,600 overall. There’s a lot of competition with other clubs in the area and the Tennis Committee has worked incredibly hard over recent years in order to attract and retain members. We continually looking to build the structure that we have in place in order to ensure everybody with an interest in the game has an opportunity to enjoy tennis here. That team consists of three full time coaches and they’ve introduced a programme that involves going into local schools and the club has regenerated to the point where we are now coaching between 200 and 300 children per week either at the club or at local schools.” NEW MEMBERS WILL ALSO RECEIVE A FREE COACHING COURSE Enjoy social and/or competitive play and join in with social events and friendly competitions For more information, contact: Maria Chandler or Rica Dearman on 07906 596978 or email beckenhamtenn
