Corsham Cricket CLUB Youth “We’ve always had a very healthy youth section which is now known as the Corsham Academy. At the end of last season we had more than 100 members with around 25 girls involved. We are always keen to welcome youngsters and look to give them plenty of opportunities to play cricket. The U13 girls’ team had a superb season last year and went to the National Finals. They finished fourth but did superbly to get there. Lilly Day was outstanding for them and was playing 4th XI cricket as well and showed the potential that she has. Lilly play’s beautifully straight and hits the ball very hard and was part of a squad that we are very proud of.” 2016 “The first objective for the club in 2016 is to retain our West of England Premier League status. I sense that we are in a period of change at the club at the moment with the loss of players from last year. We’re looking to bring in some extra players to boost our depth in the 2nd XI. Our 3rd and 4th teams have plenty of Academy players involved and have been performing very well.” Ambitions “Over the coming years we would like to see the first XI retain their Premier Division status. We’re lucky at Corsham in that the location of the ground is more or less in the centre of the town so we’ve got a very healthy non playing membership (over 400) so we get good support for our matches. Although the ground is a little on the small side it is very picturesque and is a great setting for cricket and we hope to see the exciting group of youngsters we have here progressing on to play for the first team. ” www.sportip.biz 55
