Ryton
Cricket CLUB
“Junior development is key to the future of the
Club. We are fortunate to have ‘world-class’ practice
facilities that the committee are developing further
in 2016. A key consideration of the club in selecting
a professional is the requirement that he can deliver
quality coaching to our young members. Such coaching
will be supplemented during 2016 with the hiring of
specialist coaches from Durham County Cricket Club.
“We look to provide players with a smooth
transition into the senior game by providing the very
best coaches we have access to. The introduction of
a 3rd senior team in 2016 will also help ensure that
there are ample playing opportunities for the young
cricketers of Ryton.
“Ryton is very much a community club, we
organise and promote the Ryton Show, we have been a
major financial backer of the Ryton Fireworks Display,
and have contributed funding towards the Christmas
Displays in Crawcrook. We provide more than £2,000 in
sponsorship to a STEM project, a sporting competition
and entries in the community section of the show -a
competition between local primary schools.
“Finding the funds to continue our development
programme is likely to be the biggest challenge in the
next 5 years, particularly if the government cause the
Land-fill Trust Schemes to be terminated as this fund
has provided many clubs with the funds needed to
progressively develop and maintain the fabric of the
club in this deprived area of Britain. Our ambition over
the next five years is to achieve senior division status
for our senior sides and to maintain the strength of our
junior section.”
