Scarborough North Cliff Scarborough North Cliff Cricket CLUB S carborough North Cliff Golf Club is based on North Cliff Avenue in Scarborough and they have put together a history to be proud of dating back to 1909. The present course was designed by James Braid and was put together in 1928. It starts on a cliff top before moving inland, working its way between trees and spinneys. It provides fine views of the North Yorkshire Moors before returning to the cliff top for the final three holes. At present they are led by Captain Barry Paynter who is supported by Secretary Joanne Duck and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Their club professional is Fraser Kelley who is a qualified PGA Teaching Professional. He has built a superb reputation for coaching juniors, beginners and experienced players and has proven to be a valuable asset to the club. The course is a tough but fair test for golfers of all abilities and its undulating nature provides a strong challenge. With wind generally coming from the west the first five holes are a particular challenge with most players happy to survive at par. When returning home it gives glorious sea views of the North Bay and then players can return to the Clubhouse where a warm welcome awaits. The clubhouse itself was built in 1928 and has two levels with the upper level serving as a gents locker room. They have shower rooms, an admin office along with other things on the ground floor. They also provide a wide range of meals on offer with catering provided by Kirby Catering. As well as fine meals the restaurant also offers a fantastic view over the North Bay with its imposing headland and castle. Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club is able to cater for a number of events whether they are large or small and are always happy to discuss such to ensure that you are provided with the best service possible. This has the potential to provide the club with a valuable source of additional revenue which can be particularly important in the current financial climate. There is much to admire about the superb set up that Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club currently has in place as they successfully combine a fine round of golf with a friendly, welcoming clubhouse. Hopefully they will be able to keep up the good work for many years to come and everyone at Sport in Profile Magazine wishes them the best of luck. Restaurant quality food at pub prices.
