St Boswells
S
t Boswells CC is a fine example
of
a
well-run,
superbly
establishment that plays an
important role in their local
community. We caught up with Club
Representative Steven Laidlaw to find
out more about the good work that they
have been doing lately.
Involvement
He told us, “Personally, as with many
of our current team I started out with the
junior team and played through the age
groups becoming 2nd XI then first XI
Captain. We were all coached throughout
the juniors by Gerald Smith who recently
retired from the club after 50 years of
service as a player, Junior convenor and
twice captained the club in the 70s and
80s. Gerald was deservedly awarded life
membership of the club for his services
which as mentioned benefitted many
current and now former players.”
The Role
“Currently, I hold the role of junior
convenor and also joint 2nd XI captain
with Scott Hunter. There are many
challenges in these roles especially the
junior convener role given the numbers
of kids that we have compared to coaches.
