Frome
Netball Club
Youth Development
Frome is passionate about youth development as we
consider the youth to be the future of our club.
We invest a lot of time and effort in ensuring our
junior section develops and have plenty of competitive
match play to help build on their skills and abilities. This
is possible to achieve due to our Head junior coach Jane
Boyland and our volunteer coaches Lisa Ault and Jess
Read and not forgetting our volunteer helpers Georgina
Guy, Mia Quick and myself devoting lots of time to
ensure our juniors have high quality training and match
play.
We have just formed our new U14 team called
Wildcats. They are currently competing in the Somerset
County Junior League. With the help of our new junior
sponsors Postlebury Cars, Commercial Recovery Ltd and
Frome Town Council we have been able to design and
purchase a new kit for our new team to be proud of.
We also have a strong club School link with Oakfield
Academy in Frome. Our coaches Lisa Ault and Jess Read
volunteer their time to help run an after school club every
week. This has had a positive impact for our club as we
have been inundated with 11 year olds and under starting
to join our club.
Community
Frome Netball Club takes pride in their involvement
in the local community. We hold an annual charity
tournament which is open to the local community to take
part in which we raise money for local charities.
We also take part in the Frome Carnival by selling
programmes and walking the route collecting money.
This year our juniors walked the afternoon procession in
order to promote our club by handing out fliers.
Every year we also enter a team in the Lions Sponsored
swim which helps raise money for local and national
charities, and community organisations.
Ambitions for the next 5 years
As a club the next 5 years will be extremely important.
The dedicated committee aim to have two full size courts
which will enable us to expand our senior and junior
sections enabling us to have a 4th senior team and create
an U16 team within our junior section.
Also with the continued high level of coaching we
now receive we are aiming high to ensure we have a
senior team who will play in the premier division and
also ensure all teams have the opportunities to be the best
they can!
