Gerrards Cross Cricket Club FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/SPORT_IP Gerrards Cross Cricket CLUB G errards Cross CC was first established in 1882, although they were originally known as Gerrards Cross United Cricket Club before a name change shortly after. They play their home games on Dukes Lane in Bucks and are led by Chairman C h a r l e s Hunt who is supported by Secretary S t e v e Rimmer. T h e club as a whole is part of the Gerrards C r o s s Sports Club which is made up of Cricket, Hockey and Tennis. They did originally play on Gerrards Cross Common opposite ‘The Bull Hotel’ and a Centenary match was held at the same venue in 1982. In their recent history the club have achieved a considerable amount of success, winning the Thames 44 Issue 12 Valley League and claimed promotion to the Home Counties Premier Cricket League (HCPCL) in 2002. They have twice finished runners up in this competition since then in 2006 and 2007. At the present time the club has four adult sides in place, three of which play on a Saturday and one on a Sunday. A major benefit of having more than one team is that it allows the club to give young players assistance in making the transition into the senior game. This is because they can give them a chance to play even if they are not yet considered ready for first team action. One of their most famous players is Andrew Strauss, the former England Captain.
